...Jordan's Update

Family News

Lynn and I were very privileged to visit Kim on the Logos II. We spent four days on board (not cruising... tied to a dock). We were very impressed with: the ministry that was carried out from the ship and on the ship, the hard work of the kids, and the international flavor of the crew – 200 young people from 45 nations! Kim is currently working in journalism (publications about ship activities) and as a member of the program staff. Program staffers design and carry out programs held on board for local pastors, women, churches, and school kids.

Kelley and Nate have reversed their roles. Last year Nate worked while Kelley studied and finished off her degree. This year Kelley is working in downtown Chicago while Nate completes his degrees in Spanish and pastoral studies. They are investigating possible future ministry in Europe.

Lynn just started a new school year; ten boys and two girls make up her first-grade class. Pray that Lynn will be both a testimony and a role model to these children and their parents.

MAF Impact

As I write, there are a number of critical issues facing MAF. As decisions are made we will share with you the effects that will impact both MAF and us. One of these decisions has been a very obvious need to increase MAF personal support targets by 6%. This will affect our overseas and home staff equally. MAF uses a “pooled” system, in which every family raises the same amount, regardless of continent and country of service. Would you prayerfully consider your ability to help us reach this new organizational objective? We sure don’t want to be a drain in the pool!

In Closing

Lynn and I want to thank those of you who took time to visit with us on our recent brief swing through Florida. As we crisscrossed the state, we managed to stay one jump ahead of Hurricane Charlie. God’s timing was perfect.

We’re grateful that God also timed our trip so that Lynn could be with her parents and family during a medical crisis. Lynn’s mom has been suffering the debilitating effects of cancer and radiation and was hospitalized while we were in Florida. After a couple of weeks of care in St. Augustine, her mom was transferred to a nursing home. The outlook is uncertain. We are trusting God to do what is best in this situation.

Through 27 years of ministry with MAF, we’ve had the support of faithful people like you. We ask God to bless you, just as He has blessed us through you. Together we have a very worthy calling.

Continuing our pilgrimage,
