Extreme Home Challenge

The Challenge was made to pay-off our home in the last 6 months and to end September, 2004. We could have been given up to $10,000 matched for the last 6 months. Our debt is $40,000 dollars on our home. This is the only debt we have and we desire to pay it off.

The Challenge is over and I want to thank those who have given toward our home. The Challenge was extreme and I felt I needed to take the challenge and see what God would do. We were given $7000 toward matching funds - $14,000 off the debt of our home. We are so excited to send this money to reduce our debt and keep plugging away at it. Our goal is to pay the house off in the next few years. Please pray for us in this area

Elyton Empowerment Center

We have worked hard the last 5 months to secure this building and develop an empowerment center for the community. Thursday September 23rd we pulled our offer off the table.

The Birmingham School Board owns the building but we have found ourselves in a political turf war with the County Commission, City Council and Superintendent over the school. We have played long enough and we must get on with the work of true justice, mercy and helping the poor.

The work of the gospel continues in this community as we have learned so much that will be very valuable in our pursuit of the whole church taking the whole gospel to the whole city.

Elyton was the original name for Birmingham and the area of West End we have been working was the first plot of land secured for the city. We want to help restore and build up this community and experience what true "Community Transformation" is all about here in our city.
